Our Story:

In 1992, Robert Berman created the Original Tam Dreadlocks Hat, selling it off his head for $20 and a beer. Inspired by this success, Robert expanded Rasta Imposta to include an array of novelty hats, original costumes, and accessories. With 30 years in business and thousands of hats and costumes sold, our mission remains unchanged: to create funny, easy-to-wear costumes and hats that bring joy and laughter.

How We Got Our Start:

What happens when an aspiring playwright with an entrepreneurial spirit spends a summer at the Jersey Shore? Rasta Imposta is born! Robert Berman crafted wool dreadlocks, attached them to a baseball cap, and sold it at a bar on Long Beach Island, NJ, for $20 and a beer. That moment sparked the creation of Rasta Imposta.
